After 41 days on the road walking over 1,000 kms through rain and intense heat, dodging everything from horseflies to bears, Mike Loughman will walk proudly into Airdrie today (August 5) at the end of his Mike's March for Mental Health.

This morning, Loughman had just 28 kms to go on his epic journey that began on June 26th in High Level.  He was walking to raise funds and awareness for mental health issues for both Airdrie's Thumbs Up Foundation and the Defeat Depression Campaign.

Loughman himself has battled with mental health and addictions for many years and credits the Action North Recovery Centre in High Level with helping him get sober, which he has been since October of 2014.  Loughman says taking medication and seeing a therapist regularly has helped him to manage his life in a better way.

Loughman will arrive in Airdrie at 4:00 pm today.  A welcome home reception is planned at Fletcher Park.
