Grad season is upon us, and as Airdrie's high school students prepare to cross the stage and celebrate their accomplishments, Mayor Peter Brown had some words of encouragement for the Class of 2017.

"I say this to all of them. Nobody's prouder of the work that you've done and will continue to do. I'm looking forward to watching you go."

Mayor Brown says he's excited to see what this class will do in the future, and even more excited about the impact they might have on our community.

"I wish everybody great success at whatever they do in the future, and I know when they're done, they're going to move back to Airdrie, start a business, build a home, have a family here. We want you to come back."

Mayor Brown says grad season is one of his favourite times of the year, which makes him even more disappointed to miss it, as he'll be away in Ottawa this week for conferences.

The classes from W.H. Croxford, Bert Church, George McDougall and Airdrie Koinania will all hold their graduation ceremonies this week.
