It's been one of the most talked about issues in Airdrie the last couple weeks.

The proposed redevelopment of Airdrie's Main Street prompted more debate than progress.

Mayor Peter Brown touched on the big decision made from Monday night's Council Meeting.

"Council and administration accept responsibility for where we are and we're stopping everything. As we move forward, we're going to regroup and all of the information as it relates to this proposal will be coming to the public realm."

Before that announcement was made on October 3rd, fellow Councillor and Director of Airdrie Main Street Square, Allan Hunter resigned from the position.

"It's disappointing from my end, he has lots to offer," said Brown, "losing him there is a real blow in my opinion."

Hunter will still remain as City Councillor, but the move could mean an uncertain outlook for the project.

"We're really on the cusp of doing things differently and changing how we operate," says Brown, "that board is going to be changing significantly from where it was before."
