Miss Rodeo Airdrie did her best to represent Airdrie during the Miss Rodeo Canada Pageant at the Canadian Rodeo Finals over the weekend.

Emily Marston competed against others in a variety of categories including horsemanship, public speaking and even fashion. According to her, it was the adventure of a lifetime.

"I was thrilled! There is very strict rules and things that they are looking for in a rodeo queen and of course every girl is a little different, and I'm somebody who likes to break outside of the box and break those norms and I definitely did that this weekend."

Marston said the weeks can be stressful and although she didn't win the title, the impact she had made it worth it.

"I started doing pageants when I was 14, I first held the Crossfield title. That's kind of what got my foot in the door and I realized the impact that Rodeo Royalty does make, whether it be on young kids, on adults or the just rodeo industry itself"

Now that her her royalty season has wrapped up, Marston has plans to finish her schooling in Olds and pursue environmental science.
