Airdrie UCP MLA Angela Pitt showed just how excited she is about new funding that the Airdrie Health Foundation (AHF) announced last week at Airdrie City Council's meeting for two programs that support pregnancy and mental health.

In a tweet she sent out Saturday afternoon, Pitt re-tweeted a Saturday article written by Leah Crawford from Discover Airdrie that talked of how Chair Michelle Bates, in her report to council, had said their fundraising efforts in 2017 had made them able to fund two programs this year.

The first, Pregnancy and Beyond, is an existing program which had lost its funding because of budget cuts but is now able to continue servicing vulnerable women and children, both during and after pregnancy with mental health support, parenting education and drug and alcohol support.

The second program is the Airdrie Mental Health Liasion Team made up of RCMP and Alberta Health Services which will receive funding of $120,000 from  AHF.

Pitt added her own feelings to the tweet with, "Pregnancy and mental health supports!  Woohoo!"

Pitt has served on the Standing Committee for Families and Communities in the legislature.  Healthcare for Airdronians is very important to her, having lived in the city all her life.
