Your eyes aren't deceiving you, Airdrie's Member of Parliament says he will run in the 2019 Federal Election.

"I am going to be seeking reelection in the next Federal Election," said Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards. "We're past the halfway mark of this government's term and I certainly hope it's their only term. I really felt like it was important that I let people know at this point that I would be putting my name forward again."

Richards said that while 2019 seems a long ways off, it's common for political parties to plan ahead.

"One of the things that goes into that is choosing your candidates for the next election. For that reason, I want to make sure that people are aware that I will be putting my name forward to be the candidate for the Conservative Party once again and our local association can start to do the planning and the preparations that are needed to put a campaign in place."

One of the main reasons why Richards will run again is because he's tired of the Liberals wasteful spending and constant tax policies. He believes that the Liberals are mishandling Canadians money and giving it to their 'rich friends'.

"To me, that is unacceptable and something that I can't tolerate and I know that people in our community certainly don't tolerate. I want to make sure that I can stand up and continue to be a voice for the every day Canadian who just works hard and is paying his fair share but doesn't want the government to be taking his money unnecessarily to be spending it in the wrong places."

Richards said right now, his focus is to continue to get out and interact with those in his riding to show that he still stands besides them. He hopes those efforts will translate well into his re-election campaign come 2019.
