One of the province's biggest life savers is struggling at one of their biggest events of the year.

STARS Air Ambulance is in the midst of their annual Lottery campaign but according to CEO Andrea Roberston, it's not going as well as they thought.

"As of this morning (February 14th) we're 64% where we would have been two years ago and for the past two decades, around 88% sold."

Robertson says that one third of the STARS operating budget comes from their lottery sales, with no outside source of funding.

"Sometimes people think that STARS is funded from other sources, when we're really, really reliant on individuals to help keep the helicopter in the air."

Prices for the lottery tickets have gone down with the early bird deadline set for March 1st.
