The time limit for victims of sexual or domestic assault could be lifted with the potential changes to Bill 2.

At this moment, the Limitations Act allots two years for an individual to come forward and start a civil claim, from the time that the event happened.

These proposed changes will allow the survivors of sexual or domestic violence to come forward no sooner then when they're ready.

With the elimination of the time period, it's making the legal system unrestricted to those who need it.

If these adjustments are successfully passed, then they'll apply to those who have been affected by sexual assault, sexual misconduct involving a minor, and non-sexual assault involving a minor.

Airdrie's MLA, Angela Pitt, says that so far everyone is in agreement with these changes, and that these revisions could be finalized as early as next week.

If Bill 2 is passed, Alberta will be the first province in Canada to direct attention to the issue of sexual misconduct in affectionate relationships.
