A week after they were elected in the Municipal Election, Airdrie's new City Council will officially be sworn in tonight (October 23).

A swearing in ceremony will take place at 7:00 pm in Council Chambers at Airdrie City Hall.

Two brand new Councillors will be joining five returning incumbents on the new council.

Al Jones and Tina Petrow are the newcomers who will join returnees Mayor Peter Brown and Councillors Ron Chapman, Kelly Hegg, Candice Kolson and Darrel Belyk in forming the group that will be tasked with presiding over the City of Airdrie for the next four years.

Once sworn in, the new council will officially begin their roles but will have to wait a week before organizing themselves.  An organizational meeting, which is open to the public, is planned for Monday, October 30th at 3:30 pm.

The first official council meeting for the new group will take place on Monday, November 6th at the new regular time for council meetings of 3:30 pm.
