It's not the Snowy Owl, The Loon or even the Canada Goose. Instead another bird is taking over as Canada's best.

The National Bird Project recently revealed the Gray Jay or Whiskey Jack as Canada's National Bird.

We went to the streets of Airdrie to find out what they thought of the change.

"Why would they change it now, there's no point in that," says one listener with another saying, "it's malarkey".

The majority of Airdronians we spoke to assumed the National Bird was something a little more obvious.

"We're surprised. We thought the National Bird of Canada was the Loon because of the Loonie."

The results were tallied from a nearly year long voting process with the Canadian Geographic Society.

The Common Loon and the Snowy Owl finished second and third in the vote.
