While Airdrie didn't crack the top ten for Hockeyville 2017, one of our neighbouring communities did.

The Town of Didsbury was one of the towns named in the top ten on Saturday, March 4th.

"Oh my goodness, we are so excited in Didsbury," says Nicole Aasen, Manager of Community Services, "We can hardly believe it when that announcement was made Saturday night, the community went crazy."

Although the town receives $25,000 for making the finals, Aasen says winning the title would help their arena a lot.

"If were able to secure the $100,000...those funds would be used for upgrades to our arena boards."

Win or lose, the town is thrilled that they're on the map.

"The spirit and the passion and excitement it's creating not only in Didsbury but across Central Alberta and Canada...it's huge, definitely Didsbury is getting on the map."
