Nearly 700,000 Albertans took advantage of the advance polls by casting a ballot ahead of the provincial election.

According to new data released by Elections Alberta, in Airdrie-East approximately 4,219 people voted in the advance polls. In Airdrie Cochrane, it’s estimated 1,977 people voted early.

Advance polls were open for five days this election and gave voters the option to cast their ballots at any of the 268 advance poll locations held across the province. The estimated total number of ballots cast during the advance polls is 696,000.

The 473,000 ballots cast by electors within their electoral division, will be counted following the close of polls on Election Night in their respective electoral divisions. However, Ballots cast by electors at locations outside their electoral divisions will be counted in the days following Election Day. Approximately 223,000 people took advantage of the ‘vote anywhere’ opportunity.

Election day is Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Voting locations will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Electors must vote at their assigned location on Election Day.

If you are heading to the polling station on Tuesday Elections Alberta advises you to bring your Where-to-Vote card with you to the polls. If electors are not registered to vote, identification is required to validate their name and address. To find out where you need to go to vote, click HERE.
