When it comes to ending the domestic abuse of women in Airdrie, P.O.W.E.R. continues to lead the charge.

P.O.W.E.R. stands for Protecting Our Women with Emergency Resources, and they are on a mission to provide an emergency shelter for women escaping violence.

"We wanna ask the community to really open their hearts to the idea of having that in a community, wherever that may be," said Crystal Boys, Founder/President, P.O.W.E.R..

The mission doesn't stop there however, as they also aim to provide affordable housing for more long term support.

"We have really good resources for women and children who are leaving those situations but we need to provide a safe place for them to go to when they leave," said Boys.

With next month serving as Family Violence Awareness Month, P.O.W.E.R. plans to keep busy in making their dream a reality.

They recently launched the 'Women Helping Women Hamper Program', which provides toiletries for women in need.
