Airdrie police have arrested a young man and woman in connection to a recent crime spree.

On February 19th, RCMP were dispatched after the pair stole a Cadillac Escalade from the Canal's area of Airdrie. A wallet belonging to the owner of the Escalade was in the vehicle, and the pair used credit cards from the wallet to make fraudulent purchases at a convenience store. The Escalade was later recovered.

Video surveillance obtained by the police enabled them to identify the woman as a 19 year old from Airdrie. She was later involved as a passenger in a collision near Highway 2 and Yankee Valley Boulevard on February 21. She fled the scene and later was located on foot by Airdrie RCMP, who arrested her. At the time, she was in possession of meth. She was released shortly after her arrest.

The man was also identified as a 21 year old from Airdrie, and he was located on February 26 after police responded to a call that a suspicious man was asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle parked in a car wash bay in Northeast Airdrie. He was arrested and is currently in police custody.

The suspects face a combined total of 23 charges, including breach of conditions, fraud, theft of a motor vehicle, trafficking property obtained by crime and a number of traffic safety act violations.
