Freezing rain is expected or occurring.

An area of freezing rain is expected to pass through central Alberta overnight and into Friday morning. The main band of freezing rain is forecast to form Friday morning near Rocky Mountain House and move eastwards affecting Wainwright by Friday afternoon. There is still some uncertainty as to where this line will form and it could shift 50 km either north or south. Some areas could potentially see up to 5 mm of ice accumulation causing significant threat to transportation corridors. Freezing rain will end from west to east by Friday afternoon.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
