The Calgary International Airport is one of the few airports in Canada that now offers kennel services for passengers.

Being introduced this month, the International Animal Lounge offers boarding, daycare, and overnight services.

For animals who travel in the cargo hold and are expected to be delayed or on an extended layover, the Animal Lounge will take the pet out of the holding area and offer the pet a fun, safe place to stretch and play.

"We have specialized custom built dog kennels here at our facility that are meant for these animals to relax, to rest until they have their connection flight," said Kenneth Serrien, Operations Manager at the International Animal Lounge.

The big focus for Serrien is reducing the stress on pets when traveling, as well as taking the stress away for owners who don't know what to do with their pet when they have to go out of town.

The Animal Lounge also has 12 horse stalls for horses who are traveling to and from Alberta for the Stampede and Spruce Meadows.
