Voters in Airdrie have once again elected Peter Brown as their Mayor.

Peter Brown led early and kept that lead throughout the night.

After the final of 7 polls were tallied. Brown won 5006 votes, while Marie Lauer finished second with 3280. Former Councillor Fred Burley was third with 1974 votes.

Brown says he's honoured to be reelected for a third term.

"I'm just humbled and just feel very grateful to the community for entrusting me with this role again and we got so many great things happening in Airdrie."

Brown is looking forward to working with the members of council, and the opportunities and challenges that are ahead.

"They have to be sworn in first and then orientation and then really, you're right into your first council meeting and then November's budget time, so there's a lot of things that are going to be hitting them. You got to be ready, we've got a lot of amazing stuff to look forward to in the next four years."

Peter Brown was first elected as Mayor in 2010, and was acclaimed in the last election in 2013.
