Cochrane Police and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit are looking into human remains found at the Stony Nakoda First Nation on January 25.

That night, a resident of the First Nation called the police after his dog found a bone. The caller said the bone looked human. Police seized the bone that night and returned the next to conduct a larger search.

The search uncovered three more bones. All the bones were taken to the Calgary Medical Examiner, who confirmed the bones were human.

Right now, further tests will be needed to determine the age, gender and ethnicity of the deceased.
