If you were thinking of going for a vigorous lane swim or a relaxing soak in the hot tub at Genesis Place, better think again.

Starting today (July 3) the lane pool and hot tub at the facility will be closed for the rest of the month as staff begin rotational pool closures for maintenance work to install new anti-entrapment devices on drains, suction outlets and filters on the pool.

It's all a part of Alberta anti-entrapment regulations that require all public pool facilities to be equipped with the devices that will improve safety for pool users.

Once the pool and hot tub installation has been completed, which is scheduled to be by the end of the month, the dive tank will be done, followed by the leisure pool.

All the work is slated to be completed by mid-September.

The schedule was developed to ensure maintenance occured when the pool experiences it's lowest number of users.
