The annual Airdrie Bike Festival will be taking place on Saturday, September 10, during AirdrieFest.

Mayor Peter Brown said that it's a great opportunity to teach kids basic bike safety for when they begin to ride on their own.

"There will be a qualified instructor there, there's no registration and there will be 2 sessions; one's at 11 to 12:30 and 2 to 3:30."

Giving kids the tools to stay safe and the confidence to follow the rules of the road is the main objective of the bike festival.

Both sessions are free for everyone who wants to participate, as long as an approved bike helmet is worn and the bicycle is in good working condition.
