It was a great day for Quinn's Legacy Run yesterday (August 19).

Sarah Cormier started Quinn's Legacy after the loss of her daughter Quinn to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS).

The event is held in honour of Quinn as well as other children who have passed away suddenly from SIDS or from an undetermined death.

"Currently the federal government terminates maternity benefits within 3-5 days of your children passing and parents are returned to work."

Quinn's Legacy was started to be able to financially support families who have lost a child. With financial support they are then able to grieve the loss of their child.

Airdrie's Mayor, Peter Brown, and Banff - Airdrie MP Blake Richards are both supporters of Quinn's Legacy Run. Cormier says she grateful for their support.

"I feel very honoured that they have gotten behind us and understand the injustice behind it and recognize the need for change."
