Airdrie RCMP have charged three residents of Airdrie after a drug trafficking investigation.

In late September, Airdrie RCMP's Crime Reduction Unit and General Investigation Section entered into an investigation targeting individuals believed to be involved in trafficking drugs in the city.

As a result of the investigation, traffic stops were conducted on two vehicles on the afternoon of October 12. Two men and a woman were arrested during those traffic stops and drugs were found in both vehicles.

On October 13, a search warrant was executed on a home on Big Springs Drive. The search led to the seizure of eight firearms, ammunition, cash, suspected cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana as well as two imitation firearms and evidence of drug trafficking.

31 year old Tibor Benczik and 32 year old Sabrina Calogeridis of Airdrie have now been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, production of a controlled substance, and four counts of unsafe storage of firearms. Benczik was also charged with driving a motor vehicle while unauthorized. Both Benczik and Calogeridis were released on bail and are scheduled to make their next court appearance on December 7 in Airdrie Provincial Court.

24 year old Alexander Leo Hagel of Airdrie was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on November 23.
