With November being Family Violence Prevention Month, Airdrie RCMP are taking the time to share how they work towards reducingthe issue.

Currently, Domestic Violence is one of the highest risks and most frequent types of calls RCMP receive.

The Airdrie RCMP have a dedicated, specialized Domestic Violence Unit that reviews all reports, and ensures all investigations are thoroughly conducted and all policies have been followed.

This unit targets high risk offenders, and assists families that may be vulnerable to domestic concerns.

The RCMP partner with community and support agencies to help individuals and families that have experienced violence.

Another important partner for the Airdrie RCMP is the Airdrie and District Victims Assistant Society (ADVAS), who arrange special provisions for victims, children and people with special needs.

ADVAS can assist victims connect with community resources as well as offer support in navigating through the criminal justice system.
