A 19-year-old man is recovering in hospital from stab wounds he received in an incident early Wednesday morning (May 17) in Airdrie.  

Corporal Clint Chisan says the stabbing occurred between 3:45 am and 4:15 am.  The man was brought to Airdrie Urgent Care with serious injuries and has since been transported to hospital.  "His injuries are not life-threatening and he's expected to recover from them," explains Chisan.  

Chisan says the incident happened on 8th Street, north of the Luxstone and Bayside areas of Airdrie.

According to Chisan, several units were called in to investigate.  "The RCMP Police Dog Service, the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit and the Airdrie General Investigation Section have all been engaged in the ongoing investigation."

Chisan says the RCMP don't have a suspect in custody yet.  He says the victim is cooperating in the investigation.  Chisan couldn't say if the suspect and the victim knew each other.
