Very soon, Airdrie will be kicking off a big party for Canada's 150th.

But before that big day comes, the city wanted to add a splash of Red and White to one of it's streets.

"Today we put up some of the red and white flower baskets," says Melanie Taylor from the Canada 150 committee, "the idea is to really make our city be part of the celebration for the Canada 150."

Mayor Peter Brown helped put up one of the first flower pots on the intersection of 1st Avenue and 8th Street and Taylor hopes to see more.

"We're also asking all of our residents, all across Airdrie, to decorate your own businesses, your own homes as well for the Canada 150."

The displays of patriotic colours are all leading to the annual Canada Day Parade, activities and fireworks on July 1st.
