Rob Pirzek is making a return to the president's role at the Airdrie Festival of Lights Society.

He previously served as president from 2009 to 2010, and prior to that, he'd acted as director and volunteer for several years.

Pirzek succeeded Bob Abbott, who'd been president since 2010, at the Society's AGM on May 15.

Pirzek looks forward to planning this year's event.

Pirzek welcomes suggestions from residents on ways to improve the festival in 2013.

Pirzek emphasizes: "I have always held firm to the belief that we need to be positive role models for our youth by encouraging and engaging them in positive citizenship within our community; after all they are the future volunteers and leaders! So keep your eyes and ears peeled as we Grow and Glow for another season!”

Retiring president, Bob Abbott commented: "I'm very pleased to put the leadership of the Festival in Rob's capable hands. I've enjoyed my three years in that role, and look forward to continuing with the Festival in a less demanding position."

The Airdrie Festival of Lights Society is a local non-profit organization.

Its holiday light show has run through the month of December at Nose Creek Park annually since 1996.

Its one-millionth visitor is expected to be welcomed in 2015.
