It was a bittersweet day for Rocky View Schools as they prepare to say goodbye to a longtime staff member.

Today, Associate Superintendent of Business and Operations Darrell Couture announced that he will retire on February 16, 2018.

Couture was first hired by Rocky View in 1988. In the 29 years since, he's led the way with the school division by providing innovative facility designs, shoring up educational partnerships, and negotiating sales and land acquisitions. During his tenure, he's worked with ten superintendents and ten elected school boards.

"Darrell's contribution to RVS is unmeasurable," said Superintendent Greg Luterbach, "His fingerprints will remain a permanent part of RVS' legacy; I cannot overstate the positive impact he has made on our division, the staff, and our students."

Couture said he has enjoyed his time with the school division and that the complexity and variety of the position made for a rewarding career.

RVS will start looking for a new Associate Superintendent  of Business and Operations over the summer.
