The Rocky View County Development Appeal Committee has said no to a proposed farmer's market and greenhouse development in the county, just south of Airdrie.

But a representative for the developers thinks the plan has only been put on hold temporarily and not squashed altogether.  Cindy Bushfield says they met with the appeal committee on Wednesday (April 26) and she believes the door was left open for further talks on the matter.

"We met with the development appeal board and we laid out our package.  We made some changes specifically to the name and pointed out that our focus is on the greenhouse and not the farmer's market portion.  They said that the application was denied, but the next level of the process is open to us. They kind of laid out the message, you know, keep trying."

Bushfield says there seems to be a lot of support for the proposal from Rocky View residents, but there is some concern over where it will be built.  "I think the general consensus is the project itself is very supported by a lot of different bodies, Rocky View residents and so on, on a high percentage level.  I think the issue is where the project is slated to be, and there's probably a number of factors surrounding that."  Bushfield thinks the changes for just now will involve simply tweaking the proposal.

The developers are now planning to reassess and regroup.  "There's still a lot of enthusiasm in the group, so I'm anticipating some forward momentum right away but for today it's on hold."
