While Airdrie avoided the worst of last night's storm, some rural properties were hit hard.

North of the city, near the town of Didsbury, some residents experienced extremely high winds that resulted in damage to buildings and trees.

Town officials say that within their limits, there were no reports of significant damage.

Environment Canada was keeping tabs on the storm as it quickly blew through yesterday evening. The top wind speed reported was 93 km/hr at 7:45pm.

While no severe storms are forecast for the day in Airdrie and surrounding areas, there's still a chance rain could fall through the weekend.
