Yesterday's (November 16) Rocky View School Board Meeting included an update on a number of infrastructure maintenance and renewal projects that were completed in the past year around the division.

Trustees celebrated the opening of two new schools in the division. In September, Airdrie's newest school Windsong Heights opened to students. The board were also pleased with the opening of Fireside School in Cochrane this past Tuesday (November 14). The two new schools are identical in design, and a number of trustees expressed pleasure that the schools are open to students this year.

The Board also heard that an addition to Herons Crossing School in Airdrie is nearing completion. The original building was designed to have an addition built later on. The division expects students will be in that new addition by January.

Another major project that was completed this year was the emergency repairs at Meadowbrook School. In July, a water line ruptured under the school, flooding it. Work was done to repair the damage and ensure it doesn't happen again.

Other major projects included upgrading the HVACs at Bert Church, A.E. Bowers in Airdrie and Mitford in Cochrane.

The division also modernized classrooms at Airdrie Middle and Bert Church, redid flooring at Ralph McCall, Airdrie Middle and Meadowbrook, and is in the process of converting lighting at all of the schools to LED.

131 maintenance and renewal projects have been completed. As of October 31, the division has spent $4,326,405 of their Infrastructure Maintenance and Renewal fund.
