An accident between two dump trucks carrying gravel shut down Range Rd. 11 shortly before 11 a.m. on Friday, October 7.

The head-on collision resulted in both drivers and one passenger being transported to hospital in critical condition.

Stuart Brideaux, Public Education Officer with Calgary EMS, said that a male driver in his 40's had to be extricated from the truck, and was transported to Foothills hospital with a life threatening head injury.

The passenger of the first truck sustained extremity injuries, while the second driver sustained serious abdominal and head injuries.

STARS Air Ambulance was requested for transport but due to weather conditions they were unable to launch.

RCMP are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the accident.
