The topic of School Board unification is once again coming to light.

Former Provincial Education Minister David King recently started a campaign in hopes of joining the Public and Separate school boards to combat the challenges he says public education is facing.

Chestermere-Rocky View MLA Leela Aheer says a move like this would be difficult, especially for the local Catholic Schools.

"It's the law for them to be able to have these schools and we want to make sure that we uphold that. They're not just an independent school, they're completely run by the Bishops and the Catholic mechanism is pervasive throughout their entire philosophy, not just within the school but outside of the school."

If any talk of joining school boards continues, Aheer hopes that everyone will be consulted.

"If you have this suggestion or this idea, you need to involve the people that are going to be impacted and that would include the parents, the school boards, the school authorities, the teachers, everyone else that's there."
