You may have noticed a bit of haze in the sky over Airdrie and Rocky View County.

That's because of the wildfires burning in BC and the smoke that has shifted direction towards Alberta.

Environment Canada Meteorologist Dan Kulak says the winds are shifting more of the smoke away from Airdrie.

"With the main cluster of fires in the central part of BC, the winds are tending to move that smoke more towards the central part of Alberta rather than the south. Certainly there is some smoke across the southern part of the province too."

Kulak says that Airdrie is still receiving some of the smoke but at the moment it's a bit of a haze, which is contributing to the reddish sunsets.

Right now, it all depends on the wind and where it will blow the smoke that determines if Airdrie will see a haze or more heavier smoke cover in the coming days.
