The City Of Airdrie Roads Department will begin this years street sweeping proccess on April 23rd.

Residents are asked to follow parking ban sinage to ensure the road crews can access needed areas with ease.

Mike Avremenko, Team Lead for the Roads Department says they are going to begin in the northwest of the City.

"The city is broken up into eight quadrants and this year we will starting in the same quadrant as last year in the northwest in the communities of Sage Wood, Williams Town, Fairways and Silver Creek."

The City will be placing no parking sings starting next week.

"We have our tag and tow program which essentially means we put up our big orange signs with the dates we clean and if your car doesnt get moved we will tow it to an area near by that has been swept."

Residents that fail to comply with the no parking areas will be towed and could face a $50 fine.

Last year a total of 319 cars we towed due to being parked in the temporary no parking areas.

The City will be working hard to clean the roughly 1400 tons of sanding material that was placed down over the winter which compared to last year is roughly the same.

"Ironicly the first half of the winter we did not really go through a lot of material but then come the last half we ended up using roughly the same as last year with around 25% of the material being placed in residential."
