October is Emotional Wellness Month, a subject that often gets overlooked.

With some people looking at emotional distress as weak, the month aims to change the stigma and start conversations.

"If we start looking at emotional wellness like our physical wellness, I think there is going to be less of a stigma because no one criticizes someone when they say they have a sore foot." said Laurie Jacob-Toews, Community Development Services Manager, Airdrie Community Links.

You can maintain your emotional wellness by starting a journal, trying a new relaxation technique, making time for exercise, and seeking counseling if needed.

Community links offers a number of resources for Airdronians to seek assistance.

"Social thinking and emotional coaching are a critical part of what we do." said Jacob-Toews.

If the service isn't offered directly through Community Links, they will refer you to one of the many resources in the community.

Those interested in visiting community links are encouraged to visit their Main Street location, and speak with someone from their Intake Team.
