A teenage boy was taken to the Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary with soft tissue injuries after a collision between the bike he was riding and a pickup truck in Airdrie yesterday (August 28) afternoon.

"At about 2:45 pm yesterday afternoon EMS responded in the City of Airdrie to Yankee Valley Blvd. and Main Street to reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle," explains Stuart Brideaux with Alberta Health Services EMS.  "On arrival, paramedics determined a collision between a pickup truck and a male in his mid-teens had occurred."

Before the arrival of EMS personnel, Airdrie RCMP and fire crews were already at the scene and directed them to the cyclist.  "Ultimately we transported the male to the Alberta Children's Hospital in otherwise stable condition with some minor soft tissue injuries," Brideaux says.  "At that time, that was the only patient we were directed to assess."

There is no word yet on what caused the incident and if any charges will be laid.
