"Hot enough for ya?"  Oh baby, was it ever yesterday (August 10)!

Airdrie and 16 other places in Alberta established all-time record high temperatures on Friday.  Not only did some places break the record, they obliterated it completely.

In Airdrie, the mercury soared to 36.5 degrees, which, according to Environment Canada, is a new record high in the city since records began being kept in 1884.

Calgary also topped out at 36.5, breaking their all-time record of 36.1.  Other places in the province including Banff, Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House and Vauxhall set new all-time highs.  Lethbridge and Medicine Hat both made it into the 40 + range.

At the Waterton Park Gate Area the old record was 33.2 degrees.  Yesterday they reached 39.9, smashing that record by 6.7 degrees.

The good, or bad news, depending on if you enjoy the heat or not, is things are going to cool down considerably over the next couple of days.  Today's high is forecast at 23 while tomorrow it's only expected to make it to 14.

For those of you who enjoy sweating, it will be back to the mid 20's on Tuesday and Wednesday but isn't forecast to get back to the sweltering range for the foreseeable future.
