Some members of the RCMP and Municipal Enforcement are trading their cars for bikes.

Starting this week, officers will be out on the bikes patrolling City Parks and pathways and providing some helpful tips for students.

"They're gonna be working with local schools to teach kids Bike Safety. Make sure to say hi and listen and learn, it's a great way to stay safe all summer while you're having fun on your bikes," says Mayor Peter Brown.

Officers using the bikes will also help with Traffic Control and responding to certain calls.

The Airdrie RCMP say that one advantage to this initiative is it makes access to congested areas a lot easier, and makes officers more approachable.
