For Banff- Airdrie MP, Blake Richards, he's taking on the fight against the current spending cycle from both the Provincial and Federal Governments.

Richards is concerned about the Tax and spend; spend some more; another new tax and additional spending cycle that we are currently in.

"It seems like we are stuck in this cycle with the current Liberal Government. Every time you turn around, they are finding another way to increase Government spending, with no regard for Canadian taxpayers," said Richards.

With the current Federal spending, Richards points out that we have gone from a balanced budget, to billions of dollars in debt just inside of one year.

"When it comes to managing the economy, you don’t get a second chance. Canadians are worse off today than they were a year ago."

Richards also pointed out the areas of concern that have been implemented in 2016 that he feels are affecting taxpayers;

  • Cancelled family tax credits for sports and arts classes
  • Imposed a CPP tax hike and carbon tax that will cost families thousands of dollars every year
  • Brought in new rules on mortgages that will make it harder to buy a home

Another major concern for Richards is our City's future infrastructure, and how the Liberal Government's new $15 billion infrastructure fund will not cover any projects in the City of Airdrie.

"They have taken $15 billion dollars from a fund that was designated for all communities and are using it to finance a new infrastructure bank that will only provide funding for projects worth $100 million or more. This virtually guarantees that rural communities across Canada won’t qualify."
