It was one year ago on October 19th when voters across Canada chose their Government.

At the end of the day, Justin Trudeau proved his skeptics wrong when his Liberal Party won a Majority Government with 184 seats in the House of Commons.

It was a huge win for the party but a loss for the Federal Conservatives who fell to the status of the Official Opposition, a role that Banff-Airdrie MP Blake Richards is taking seriously.

"Being a voice for my constituents, being a voice for those that have or who are struggling to get by because of the tax increases."

Back in 2015, Richards once again won his riding with over 40,000 votes, beating out Liberal Candidate Marlo Raynolds, NDP rep Joanne Boisseanault and the Green Party's Mike MacDonald.

Richards says that the past year has seen a lot of change, but unfortunately, not the kind he was hoping for.

"The fact that they've taken in one year, what was a balanced budget that we left, and made it into a huge deficit...that's debt, that's taxes for future generations."

Unfortunately for Richards, he's seen too many downfalls with his friends and colleagues in the city, saying that many small businesses, restaurants and local retail shops are struggling to make ends meet.

Despite the fears of a growing deficit and possible Carbon Tax being introduced by the Federal Government, Richards is determined to speak out for his riding.
