A man who's worn many colours in the Alberta Legislature says there's nothing wrong with the recent floor crossing in the Provincial Government.

On November 17th, Alberta PC MLA Sandra Jansen left her party to join the Governing NDP.

Former Airdrie MLA Rob Anderson says that when it comes to this latest incident of floor crossing the voters will ultimately decide if it's right.

"You have to live with those decisions and she stated her reasons and her constituents will have the final say at the next election."

During his political career, Anderson crossed the floor twice, first as a member of the PC's to the Wildrose and then back to the Conservatives in 2015.

Anderson knows all too well that sometimes, not everyone will like the move.

"You got to make a decision on what you think your constituents...what is in their best interest. Hopefully you're right, sometimes you're wrong...that's what elections are for at the end of the day."

While some may think you need to apply for re-election once you cross the floor, there's nothing that mandates that.

"There's nothing in any constitutional document that says that there needs to be a by-election or anything like that. This is part of the Parliamentary system," says Anderson who cited other well known party departures including Winston Churchill who went from a Conservative to joining the UK Liberal Party in 1904.
