Cochrane and Area Humane Society is the most recent organization to be victimized by theft.

In the early morning hours of October 24, the Humane Society had a lock broken off a shed where they store bottle donations.

Jaimie Anton, Cochrane and Area Humane Society, Fund Development Officer, said a few hundred dollars worth of bottles were stolen.

"Someone came in and actually physically cut the lock off of the shed and took about half of the bottles that were in the shed. The shed was fairly full at the time so we lost hundreds of dollars worth of bottles."

Sad thing for the Humane Society is the bottle money goes directly towards the animals.

"The unfortunate thing is really the fact that the funds raised through this program go directly to the animals to help with overall sheltering costs as well as medical expenses and supplies. Stealing these bottles essentially takes away from the animals directly."

Cochrane RCMP have not ruled out whether this incident is related to two other break and enters which occurred the same morning.

If anyone would like to donate bottles to replenish the shelter's supply you can drop off anytime between 7 am and 7 pm, and place bottles in the shed as it remains unlocked during the day.
