During a City Council presentation in April, the thought of Airdrie's own college or university came about.

Although it was a brief point in the results of the Downtown Vision exercises on April 18th, it has led some to wonder if it could be a possibility.

Airdrie is currently home to a satellite campus of Bow Valley College but what do some in Airdrie think of having another bigger institution in the city?

"Nope, I would definitely say a hospital in Airdrie," says one woman, "I just think there's other priorities over a University, especially since Calgary is so close," says another.

The thought of using a Health Care facility to help educate has already come up, according to City Councillor Allan Hunter.

Hunter, who also sits on the board for the Airdrie and Area Health Benefits Co-operative, says they have discussed the possibility of training health care workers as part of their proposed health park.

The City's Economic Development Department says they did look at a possibility of post secondary in 2011, but felt there wasn't enough of a push and are satisfied with having Bow Valley College in the City.
