Three people have been charged in relation to four Cochrane homes being searched as part of an ALERT drug trafficking investigation.

Cochrane RCMP Corporal Matt Pumphrey said the charges came after a three month investigation targeting a ring of drug dealers in Cochrane.

"Through that three month investigation, grounds were received to execute search warrants on four houses in the Town of Cochrane; the investigation was led by the Calgary ALERT unit."

Cpl. Pumphrey said two of the houses were searched by members of the K Division Emergency Response Team and two of the searches were conducted by Cochrane RCMP.

"Through the search of those four homes a quantity of drugs suspected to be cocaine was found, two firearms, and some cash. Three people, to my knowledge, at this point have been charged one being Jak Burchell(26), who was living in Cochrane not from here originally, and Parker(29) and Jared Burrow(25)."

Cpl. Pumphrey said he expects to see more incidents like this in the future as Cochrane expands.

"I think it is something the community has to be aware of and keep their eyes open for, and for sure be on the look out and report suspicious behavior and houses that they have concerns about."

More charges may still come out of the on going investigation as ALERT finalizes the total amounts and weights of drugs seized.
