Three people are dead and a five-year-old girl is in serious condition in Calgary Children's Hospital following a two-vehicle collision just south of Irricana yesterday (April 20).

Beiseker RCMP say the collision occurred on Highway 9 at Range Road 271 shortly after 10:00 am between an SUV and a car.  An adult male and a female in their 20's were travelling in one vehicle with a child.  A 69-year-old woman was in the other vehicle.  All three adults were killed.  The five-year-old girl was airlifted to Calgary Children's Hospital where she remains with serious injuries.

There were no other passengers in the vehicles.

Highway 9 was shut down for several hours following the crash.  The RCMP's Collision Analyst continues to investigate the cause, however, the RCMP say that a collision of this magnitude requires extensive investigation and it's not anticipated that further information will be made available about the incident.

No further details regarding the investigation will be released nor will the names of the deceased.
