If you've just finished digging out of your rural laneway after Friday afternoon and Saturday morning's drifting snow around Airdrie, here's some bad news.

You're likely going to have to do it again tomorrow.

Environment Canada is forecasting the winds today to be even stronger than they were at the start of the weekend with gusts of up to 70 kmh in what they call "wind prone" areas.

Today's forecast calls for local blowing snow late this morning and continuing this afternoon.  Wind gusts on Friday afternoon were in the 40 kmh range.  Today they're predicted to be 30, gusting to 50 kmh with 70 kmh winds in the wind prone areas this afternoon.

The winds will diminish slightly to 20 to 40 kmh tonight and then are forecast to become light overnight.

On Friday, Airdrie RCMP and police in other southern Alberta jurisdictions were called out to multiple collisions caused by reduced visibility in drifting snow and slick road conditions once the wind had buffed up the roads.

If you're on the road today, watch out for the possibility of similar conditions to Friday.
