Police have released more details on the investigation of a trailer theft that occured on August 12.

Last Friday (August 25), RCMP issued a plea, trying to identify the owner of a truck used to steal a trailer containing three dirt bikes and an ATV from behind Dash Auto Graphics and Tinting on East Lake Boulevard.

Today (August 28), Cst. Dan Martin said shortly after they reached out, the owner of the truck contacted RCMP and that the truck had been reported stolen.

"Due to not being able to link a registered owner or a plate to the theft, we were unable to relate the two files."

Martin explained that they only had a photo of the truck used in the trailer theft to go off of at the time. The truck has since been recovered.

Martin said they are still investigating the theft and have yet to find the three dirt bikes and the ATV, although the trailer was recovered shortly after the crime took place.

Cst. Martin said they don't have leads on a suspect at this moment.
