An 11 year veteran of the Calgary Police Service (CPS)has been charged by the RCMP in relation to offences that are alleged to have been committed while he was off duty in Airdrie.

In a Media Release, CPS says that in May 2018 the RCMP became involved in the investigation after a number of incidents that happened through the month.  Some of those incidents were connected to a domestic relationship.

At the time of the alleged incidents, the officer was on leave on an unrelated matter.

The officer was charged with one count of Theft Under $5,000, four counts of Breach of Recognizance, two counts of Fraud Under $5,000, one count of Uttering a Forged Document and one count of Assault.

Due to the fact that some of the charges are domestic in nature, the name of the accused is not being released to protect the privacy of the victim.  CPS says that this is the same right that is afforded to any victim of a domestic situation.

Calgary Police released information on the incident and the charges in the interest of public transparency.

The officer remains on the unrelated paid leave and his status will be reviewed over the next 30 days.
