More than two years after being paralyzed from the chest down in the tragic bus crash involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey club, Airdrie's Ryan Straschnitizki continues his incredible work ethic to regain some of the mobility lost in April 2019.

Straschnitzki has posted a video on Twitter showing him working with a pair of therapists as he grips and stands up with the aid of a walker.  Straschnitzki says on the Tweet:

"Trying out the walker for the first time! thankful for the physios that push me to be the best I can every session. One step closer than I was the day before."

In the video, a therapist can be heard giving Straschnitzki instructions on movement and encouraging the young Airdrie man.

Straschnitzki has previously shown his resiliency and drive in overcoming adversity with a number of other posts about his progress.  In November of 2019 Ryan and his father Tom travelled to Thailand where Ryan had an epidural stimulator implanted into his spine.  Video from his rehab at that time showed him moving his legs, kicking a ball, and even taking some steps with the help of therapists.

Ryan Straschnitzki continues to pursue his dream of playing with the Canadian Paralympic Sledge Hockey Team at an upcoming Olympics.
