After enduring this week's cold snap, there is thankfully a change in the weather starting this weekend.

Meteorologist Dan Kulak with Environment Canada explains what this change is going to bring.

"We are looking at a change in the weather pattern from the very, unexpectedly snowy, rainy and cool weather that we've been having the last few days across much of Alberta into a drier and seasonal pattern by the early part of next week."

When looking at the short term forecast, the temperatures will continue to rise over the next week.

"The general trend is upwards for this next week or so. We do have some indications that it could be warm into Friday of next week."

But like most warming trends in the city at this time of year, better enjoy them while you can as soon temperatures will return to more seasonal numbers.

Kulak says they're also keeping an eye on the winter, which could bring a La Nina trend.

"La Nina typically brings a rather average Fall followed by a cooler and wetter than normal winter in western Canada, so we'll have to keep our eye out for what the winter's going to bring."
